Bald Eagle

One of the most easily recognizable birds, the magnificent and noble looking adults have blackish-brown body with white head and tail. Immature and juvenile Bald Eagles are less impressive with plumage ranging from fully dark brown to messy and mottled with large patches of white. Soars with wings flat, like a large, dark plank. Head appears large in flight; projects far in front of wings. Although an accomplished hunter, Bald Eagles are not above scavenging and stealing food from other birds of prey.

Bald Eagles are being spotted more frequently in the upper keys.  Fisherman that charter in the Everglades especially see them either soaring above or perched on one of the many islands in the Florida Bay.
